PNB Week in Review: Gold’s gold, South Point preps for launch,
I’m often amazed at the amount of news, information and gossip the poker world produces every week, and this past week is perhaps the perfect example of this, as so many things were going on that by themselves don’t really warrant a full column, but collectively make for some very interesting reading. In this week’s installment of the PNB Week in Review I’ll take a look at some of the more interesting stories from the past week that didn’t make the cut for a full-fledged article.
Jamie Gold’s 2006 WSOP Bracelet sells for $65k
A few months ago we learned that 2006 WSOP Champion Jamie Gold’s Championship Bracelet was on the auction block, along with some other items from his historic Main Event win. Well, the auction has now concluded and someone is now the proud new owner of the piece of poker history, all for the low-price of $65,725.
South Point’s RealGaming.com Taking Registrations
Online poker players in Nevada woke up to some exciting news this week as South Point’s RealGaming.com started taking registrations and running KYC Checks, a move that signals the site will likely launch any day now. You can register at Real Gaming at www.RealGaming.com.
Revel and M Poker Rooms go from Endangered to Extinct
Two separate properties on opposite ends of the country decided they no longer have use for their poker rooms, as the Revel Casino in Atlantic City and the M Resort in Las Vegas both shutdown their poker rooms in the past week or so.
For Revel the closure is simply another example the company’s potential insolvency, while for M Resorts the closure of their poker room was more likely a reluctance to compete in already saturated market.

Poker Night in America Auditions
The latest venture into the world of televised poker is the Todd Anderson (the co-founder of the Heartland Poker Tour) backed Poker Night in America, which has hired industry legend Nolan Dalla as a creative Consultant of sorts. According to Dalla’s blog the show is looking for potential players, but unlike past televised poker shows, Poker Night in America participants will have to play on their own dime:
“You must be willing to buy into the cash game (No-Limit Hold’em with blind levels at $25-50) with your own money. The buy-in ranges from $5,000 (minimum) to $20,000 (maximum). We’ll leave that up to you. The point is — this isn’t a free ride. You’ve got to commit to playing.”
