Poker News BoyThere were so many secondary stories in the poker world over the past week that it was hard to pare the list down to just four entries, but pare it down I did, and now I present you with this week’s overlooked/underreported poker news.

Commerce Signs November Niner Mark Newhouse

Just signed a deal to represent my (literal) home casino. The California Commerce Club. “LA’s friendliest” card room!

Was the tweet sent out from Mark Newhouse’s Twitter account on Wednesday, announcing a deal he signed with the Commerce Casino. Newhouse will likely rep the Commerce at the World Series of Poker Main Event final table in early November, where he will start with the second lowest chip count.

Ivey Poker Launches Mobile App

Phil Ivey released a 2:28 second YouTube video announcing the launch of his Ivey Poker app.

The app (available for iOS and Android devices as well as on Facebook and Google Play) is a free to play game, and also includes some instructional material to help players get their feet wet.

In the video Ivey lists a few of the apps features, including the ability to multi-table, playing up to four games at once, as well as what he called the “Pros in the building” feature, which identifies pro players in the games and chat with them.

PokerShield

PokerFuse.com and SeNet International have released an “open source operating system custom-designed to protect the online poker player,” which they are calling PokerShield.

With the recent hackings and other security issues surrounding the game this product could very well fill a much-needed void in the online poker industry.
