For the first time in the history of the show –or in the history of any cash-game poker show for that matter—this week’s episodes of Poker After Dark on NBC will be fought out over a PLO table. Probably to pull in the casual viewer who is unlikely to know the specifics of PLO play, PAD will be doubling the buy-in and stakes for their PLO episode, making this one of the highest stakes cash games in television history.

Six of the top PLO players in the world will be bringing at least $100k to the PAD tables –$100k is the minimum buy-in for the PLO cash-game—including Phil Ivey, Tom ‘durrrr’ Dwan and Patrik Antonius, Brian Hastings, Brandon Adams and Phil ‘OMGClayAiken’ Galfond. We’ll also get our first glimpse of a new television poker personality in Jared “Harrington25” Bleznick who will join the show when one of the others players leaves –for reasons still unknown.

With $300/$600 blinds expect the action to be fast and furious, especially considering the hyper-aggressive lineup for the show, and the nature of PLO with its huge pots and small edges.

To help acclimate viewers to the PLO format PAD will also be utilizing a 4-color poker dark, similar to the one online poker players are used to seeing.
