An eCheck, short for electronic check, is nearly the same exact item as a paper check someone writes in person. The only difference is that an eCheck is essentially written over the Internet. However, just because the money is made instantly available by poker sites doesn’t mean that eCheck’s are not subject to the same security measures that a paper check is. For anyone depositing via eCheck, make sure that your checking account has enough money in it to process the transaction before you deposit. Otherwise, the bank from which your checking account is based will charge you the full amount, in addition to a costly overdraft fee. Additionally, the poker site will take back the deposited money and may suspend your playing privileges or even ban you from playing at the site altogether if it becomes a recurring problem.
