Poker pro Andrew Feldman loses court battle

In one of the stranger poker stories –and that is saying quite a bit as anyone who follows poker knows—professional poker player, and Full Tilt Poker sponsored pro, Andrew Feldman has lost his court case in the UK. Feldman filed suit against Rabbi Simon Nissim after Nissim lost some £136,000 of Feldman’s money betting on the stock market.

Apparently Nissim was placing bets for Feldman on his account, with Feldman covering any losses, as well as reaping any profits –Nissim was also betting his own money along with Feldman’s. Feldman claimed that Nissim was not authorized to place so many bets (77 in just a few hours), but Deputy High Court Judge Richard Snowdon ruled that: “The undisputed facts provide more than sufficient grounds upon which to conclude that Mr Feldman agreed to indemnify Mr Nissim and acknowledged that the amounts claimed by Mr Nissim fell within the scope of the agreed indemnity.”

Feldman, has a history with losing big amounts of money –he notoriously blew his entire poker bankroll in a single day, some $100,000 when he was 18 years-old—and the deal with Nissim was born after a terrible week of poker in 2008 where the poker pro lost some $700,000 – $800,000.

On top of being out £136,000, Feldman will also have to pay an additional £20,000 in court fees; a real bad beat.
