PokerStars EPT Grand Final Main Event final table set
After four full days of action the final table for the 2012 PokerStars European Poker Tour (EPT) Grand Final Main Event is now set, and despite a relatively unknown field, expect some excellent play and fireworks during Monday’s finale.
Leading the way in the final table will be 64 year-old Frenchmen Bernard Guigon, who will take 4.9 million chips into tomorrow’s final table as he seeks his first major tournament victory. Guigon has over 1 million more chips than his nearest competitor, but none of the final table participants are extremely short-stacked or more than a hand or two from the chip-lead themselves.
Perhaps the best known player still in the hunt is Chicago native, and online poker legend, Mohsin “ChicagoCards” Charania. Charania is looking for his first major live tournament score, and what better way to hit the radar of the mainstream poker population than by winning the EPT Grand Final and €1.5 million! With over $500,000 in career tournament earnings Charania hasn’t been stymied in live poker tournaments, but this is by far the biggest stage he has been on, and has already trumped his previous largest cash when he finished 6th in the 2010 WPT World Poker Finals at Foxwoods.
Another storyline that will be followed closely is Lucille Cailly, who will attempt to become the first female EPT Grand Final Champion and add her name to the list of other EPT female winners like Victoria Coren, Sandra Naujoks, and Liv Boeree. Cailly enters the final table with the third largest chip-stack and has proved her poker skills over the past four days.
Here is a look at the final table chip counts heading into Monday’s action, as well as where each player will be seated at the final table:
* Seat 1: Rodrigo Caprioli — 2,945,000
* Seat 2: Bernard Guigon — 4,900,000
* Seat 3: Michael Dietrich — 1,550,000
* Seat 4: Sergio Castelluccio — 1,410,000
* Seat 5: Moshin Charania — 2,215,000
* Seat 6: Daniel Gomez — 2,665,000
* Seat 7: Clayton Mozdzen — 1,430,000
* Seat 8: Lucille Cailly — 2,865,000
When the players return on Monday at 2:30 PM local time they will be playing in Level 30 with 50,000/100,000 blinds and a 10,000 chip ante. The short-stacks at the table will have just over 14 blinds to work with, while the chip-leader is just under 50 big-blinds. With the players starting to run out of time before being blinded away you can expect some serious action early and often tomorrow.
