Pro Poker League releases full schedule for 2011

The professional poker league formed by the likes of Annie Duke and Jeffrey Pollack released their schedule for their inaugural 2011/2012 season, as well as some additional details regarding the buy-ins, structure, and format of the events. The tournaments will be played at the Palms Casino in Las Vegas –which is owned by one of the tour’s investors Gavin Maloof—and seem to coincide with other major tournaments, especially the fourth stop and the Championship Event which would seem to conflict with the PCA and Aussie Millions.

The big news in the press release was that the Main Event tournaments will feature a $20,000 buy-in with no rake taken from the buy-in. The Press Release also indicated there would be some type of added money to the tournament prize-pool. The Main Events are scheduled for four days, so the structure will be very slow considering there are only going to be about 200 entrants; something Annie Duke addressed in the Press Release:

“Because the Main Events have four or more days to play down to a winner from a start of approximately 200 players, we believe it will offer the best, most friendly structures for the skilled player out there. Great structures, no rake, and generous overlays are integral to our celebration of the best live tournament players in the world.”

It also appears that the tournaments will not be totally exclusive, as each Event will hold a $1,500 satellite tournament, known as the Pro-Am, where the final 9 players receive an entry into the Main Event –this $180,000 will be taken from the overall prize-pool of the Pro-Am.

Each event will also host a charity tournament prior to the Main Event, but very few details were given about these tournaments.
