Richard Ashby Triumphs in WSOPC Super Circuit London, Secures Fir
Seasoned poker player and Pot-Limit Omaha (PLO) specialist Richard Ashby claimed victory in the £1,100 buy-in PLO event at the World Series of Poker Circuit (WSOPC) Super Circuit in London. The triumph marks Ashby’s first live poker tournament win since September 2019 and adds another prestigious title to his collection, alongside the WSOP bracelet he earned back in 2010.
The £1,100 PLO event drew a competitive field of 55 entrants, generating a remarkable £53,350 prize pool that exceeded the initial guarantee. The top eight finishers shared in the prize money, with a minimum cash prize of £2,100. However, it was Ashby who emerged victorious, claiming the top prize of £15,430 and the coveted gold WSOPC ring.
The final table was filled with talented players, each vying for the title. Ashby faced stiff competition throughout the tournament, including Ajay Kejriwal (8th place, £2,100), Rajesh Khanna (7th place, £2,600), Jake Bluston (6th place, £3,300), Robert Cowen (5th place, £4,300), Presiyan Tsvetanov (4th place, £5,500), and Daniel Patel (3rd place, £7,500).
The heads-up stage saw an intense battle between Ashby and fellow PLO specialist Justin Kyriakides. Ashby, known by his online poker alias “Chufty,” handled the pressure with composure and eventually bested Kyriakides, who secured a career-best second-place prize of £12,620.
Richard Ashby’s poker prowess extends far beyond this recent victory. In 2010, he clinched the $1,500 Seven Card Stud event at the WSOP, securing both a gold bracelet and $140,467 in winnings. Throughout his illustrious career, Ashby has come close to claiming additional WSOP hardware, finishing as the runner-up in the $10,000 H.O.R.S.E. event and the $10,000 Limit Omaha Hi/Lo tournament in 2010 and 2014, respectively.
With this triumph, Ashby’s total live poker tournament earnings exceed an impressive $2.7 million. His recent victory in the WSOPC Super Circuit London further cements his position as one of the game’s notable figures. As the tournament series continues until August 13, poker enthusiasts eagerly anticipate witnessing more outstanding performances from Ashby.
