Selbst in front after day 1 of WSOP $5k PLO
Thus far at the 2011 World Series of Poker the first-time events have drawn sizable fields, with the $25k Heads-Up Championship setting a prize-pool record, and the 10-Game Mix tournament attracting a solid field. Yesterday another new format was introduced as the $5k buy-in 6-Handed PLO tournament got underway, and once again the poker world responded with 507 players registering for the event –Last year this event was played 9-handed and attracted a field of 460 players.
With a steep $5k buy-in to go along with the non-Holdem format the field was full of top poker pros, and the Top 10 chip counts at the end of the day were a reflection of that:

3. Shaun Deeb — 195,000
4. Mike McDonald — 181,800
5. Jamie Rosen — 157,000
6. Jesper Hogaard — 142,800
7. Chris DeMaci — 137,700
8. Peter Jetten — 134,000
9. David Ulliott — 125,000
10. Joseph Cheong — 120,700
110 players will be heading into Day 2 of the tournament with their eyes fixed on the WSOP bracelet and the $619,575 in first=place prize-money that will go to the winner. In addition to the players listed above, other survivors from Day 1 include Brian Rast, Jason Senti, Layne Flack, William Reynolds, Tom Swan, David Chui, Hac “trex313” Dang, Jared “Harrington25” Bleznick, Jason Mercier, Sorel Mizzi, Mike “SirWatts” Watson, Joe Hachem, Mike Mizrachi, David Benefield, Josh Arieh, Chris Moorman, Matt Affleck, Emil “WhiteLime” Patel, David Baker, Jeff Lisandro, Praz Bansi, and Dan Shak.
