After nearly two months of inactivity the Superstar Showdown will return to PokerStars tonight as Viktor “Isildur1” Blom takes on Rui “pepperoniF” Cao across four $50/$100 poker tables, two of which will be NLHE and two of which will be PLO –similar to the structure Blom and Tony G used in their Superstar Showdown match.

Cao first stated that he wanted to be a competitor in the Superstar Showdown matches months ago, but at the time the waiting list was already dozens deep. In the new post-Black Friday poker world Cao, one of the few non-US players with the name recognition and bankroll to compete in the Superstar Showdown match, will finally get his chance. Cao has owned Isildur1 at the poker tables and via his blog has claimed to be up over seven-figures against the Swedish phenom.

The last Superstar Showdown occurred just after Black Friday and pitted Isildur1 against an online qualifier –the match was scheduled well in advance of Black Friday. Overall Blom has been very successful in the Superstar Showdown matches, having bested seven of his eight opponents, including wins over poker stars like Tony G, Eugene Katchalov, Daniel Negreanu, Scott Palmer, and Daniel Cates. His lone loss came in the first installment of the challenge match against Ike Haxton.

The match will take place on Sunday, June 19th, at Noon ET at PokerStars.
