“The Grinder” wins second bracelet at WSOPE
Mike “The Grinder” Mizrachi is now a multiple bracelet winner at the World Series of Poker, having captured his second bracelet in the €10k Split Format Holdem tournament at the 2011 World Series of Poker Europe tournament series. Bracelet #2 will join Mizrachi’s $50k Players Championship title from the 2010 WSOP and cements “The Grinder” as one of the most successful tournament poker players in the history of the game.
Mizrachi found himself squaring off against a formidable Final Four in the tournament, with seasoned opponents, Noah Schwartz, Shawn Buchanan, and French poker pro Roger Hairabedian (who has been on quite a tear over the past year himself). The last man standing between Mizrachi and his second WSOP bracelet was Shawn Buchanan, and it appeared that the heads-up duel would continue for a while longer despite Buchanan’s short-stack, when the two got it all-in with Buchanan holding A/J to Mizrachi’s A/T, but the poker gods had other plans and a Ten-high flop gave Mizrachi a huge lead in the hand; the board would run-out T-6-3-2-2.
Here is a look at the final table payouts from Event #5 at the 2011 WSOPE:
* Michael Mizrachi — €336,008
* Shawn Buchanan — €207,624
* Roger Hairabedian — €112,092
* Noah Schwartz — €112,092
Mizrachi has now eclipsed the $12 million mark in career tournament earnings according to thehendonmob.com, landing him in 6th place on the all-time list, and within shouting distance of Erik Seidel who currently holds the top spot with over $16 million.
