This Week in Tournaments: WSOPC, HPT, and APPT action

World-Series-of-Poker-July-2010-dealer-tables-300x200Virtually every poker tour in existence was hosting an event in past week or so, so while your eyes were focused on the EPT London, or perhaps on the scandals plaguing former WSOP Main Event winners you may have missed the third female winner on the Heartland Poker Tour (HPT), a huge WSOP Circuit Series Main Event in Atlantic City, and the final table of the PokerStars APPT Main Event in Seoul, South Korea.

WSOPC Caesars Atlantic City draws 540 entrants

WSOPC tournaments have been quite popular this year, and the tour’s latest stop in Atlantic City was no exception as 540 players showed-up for the Main Event at the Caesars AC property. In the end it was Joseph McKeehan who would win the WSOPC ring and secure a seat in the $1,000,000 WSOPC National Championship in New Orleans in May.

Here is a look at the complete final table payouts from the tournament:

2. Tony Sinishtaj – 107,673

3. Ido Ashkenazi – $78,659

4. Dennis Thurman – $58,312

5. Hend Matthews – $43,853

Theresa Hemingway becomes third female HPT Champion

With 671 entries into the $1,500 Main Event the Heartland Poker Tour stop at the Golden Gates Casino in Black Hawk, Colorado generated a prize-pool of over $1,000,000 and it was Teresa Hemingway who would walk away with the top prize of $226,463, as well as becoming just the third female player to win a HPT tournament, and the first since 2008 when Mary Jo Belcore-Zogman won the 2008 HPT Main Event at Onamia, Mille Lacs on her way to the 2008 HPT Player of the Year title – the third female winner was Jenney Kriewald, who won the 2007 Shooting Star Casino Main Event.

Xuan Liu headlines PokerStars APPT Seoul final table

222 players entered the Season 7 APPT stop in Seoul, South Korea, a ?3,000,000 buy-in tournament (the KRW is worth roughly 1/10 of a US dollar for anyone trying to put the buy-in and payouts in perspective) that attracted quite a few big names in the poker world, including Xuan Liu and Casey Kastle, both of whom made the final table in the event.
