Top US Poker Site Lock Poker adds new sponsored pro
If you thought Lock Poker was finished adding to their Team LockPRO Elite roster in 2012 after signing a slew of big name talent in 2011 and into 2012 you were sadly mistaken. This past week Lock Poker announced yet another addition to their roster of sponsored pros, Portuguese poker pro Pedro “pls3betme” Maia.
Maia joins other new additions to the Lock Poker team, including last year’s monster signing of Chris Moorman, one of the games top young talents. Other additions over that time-frame have included UK poker pro Nicky Evans (who recently won the Niagat FallsView Main Event for $308,000), Melanie Weisner, Leo Margets, and Kevin Vandersmissen. These top poker talents join Lock’s already impressive roster of Matt Stout, Eric Lynch, Casey Jarzabek, and Brett Jungblut.

Maia is still a fresh-face in the poker world, but has already proven himself in his native Portugal, where he has been one of the most consistent performers in tournaments. His poker career began just five years ago in 2007, and by 2009 he had decided to quit his job and become a professional poker player. Much of his profit comes from his online skills, where he is a prolific multi-tabler, and one of the top-rated rakeback players in the world.
In a press release on the signing, Lock Poker founder and CEO Jennifer Larson called Maia “an excellent addition to our incredible team of players!” Larson went on to say, “As we reach across the world with our Pros we continue to get a deeper grasp of what becoming the top online poker room worldwide really means. We are determined to be the number one choice worldwide!”
Maia was quoted in the press release as saying, “I am delighted to join Lock Poker, a professional team of the highest level, with the Top international and Portuguese players, counting in its ranks with players of international reputation. Lock Poker is a room of the highest quality, to which I hope to bring my best contribution, at the same time as the exchange of experiences in this vast team will allow both personal development, and to Lock Poker itself as a poker room, continuing its growth and increasing brand awareness.”
Maia isn’t the only Portuguese poker pro on the Lock Poker roster wither, his friend and fellow countryman Francisco “yuranpt” Santos is also a Lock Poker pro and knows a little something about his abilities. In the press release Santos said, “Pedro is a pure young blood ‘horse’. He knows what he wants, he sets his goals and he goes after that with passion and determination and this is what Lock stands for. Pedro is a close friend of mine and I feel honored to have him with us. We have the same dream to be the 1st Portuguese to win a bracelet.”
Lock Poker is one of the flagship sites on the Merge Gaming Network (along with Carbon Poker), the #1 ranked US-friendly online poker room/network according to pokerscout.com.
