Tournament Report: WSOPE, pair of WPT events and more

There is plenty of poker tournament action taking place at casinos around the world, so here is your chance to get caught up on the latest results, and upcoming events in the poker world. Later this week we’ll update you on even more tournament results, including the EPO, the WSOPC in Bossier City, and of course the World Series of Poker Europe tournament series.

WPT Malta

The WPT Malta Main Event was won by Yorane Keringard, who defeated the 168 player field to win his first major poker tournament. While the field size was relatively small (The tournament is competing with the WPT Borgata Poker Open, the English Poker Open, the WSOPC Bossier City, and the HPT Colorado tournaments, as well as the upcoming WSOPE) the field included some of the biggest names in poker including Tony G and Phil Hellmuth.

Here is a look at the final table payouts from the tournament:

1. Yorane Kerignard – $182,292

2. Jackson Genovesi – $108,024

3. Alessio Isaia – $68,981

4. Hui Chen Kuo – $51,409

5. Zeljko Krizan – $38,425

6. Sampo Ryynanen – $30,556

WPT Borgata Poker Open

With 1,181 entrants the WPT Borgata Poker Open managed to eclipse last year’s mark, and the final table payouts reflect just how prestigious this tournament has become in the poker world.

1. Ben Hamnett – $818,847

2. Matthew Burnitz – $488,850

3. Tyler Patterson – $298,950

4. Ofir Mor – $250,065

5. Steve Brecher – $206,821

6. David Diaz – $167,337

Mike Harris victorious at HPT Colorado

Out in Colorado, the Heartland Poker Tour managed to attract 739 players for their $1,500 Main Event. The tournament was eventually won by Mike Harris (who took home nearly a quarter of a million dollars for the win) after defeating a final table that included David “Bakes” Baker. Other big names in attendance were HPT regular Greg Raymer and Colorado resident Bryan Devonshire.

3. Dan Jensen – $89,825

4. Richard Perego – $73,302

5. Jeff Wertepny – $58,220

WSOP Europe kicks off

Meanwhile, over in Cannes, France, the World Series of Poker Europe kicked off this weekend. The final table of Event #1 is playing out as I write this, with UK poker pro Roberto Romanello looking to become the latest player to join Poker’s Triple Crown Club. Here is a look at the final table chip counts from Event #1 at the WSOPE:

* Yannick Bonnet — 476,000

* Senh Ung — 289,000

* Matan Krakow — 250,000

* Sylvain Ribes — 212,000

* Roberto Romanello — 200,000

* Imed Ben Mahmoud — 184,000

* Demis Hassabis — 88,000
