Vamplew Doubles His Success at UKIPT Champion of Champions
Following a winning performance within the European Poker Tour London Main Event after seeing off four times World Series of Poker bracelet winner John Juanda and adding a first place payout of £900,000 to his bankroll, the Scot has managed to repeat his fine form to win another tournament, the UKIPT Champion of Champions tournament.
The tournament which was made up of eight UKIPT winners from the tournaments first season took place last night, only 2 days after his victory within the EPT London Main Event.
The eight player table was played for a first player prize of entry into every event in the next season of the UKIPT, a prize package worth up to the value of £50,000.
After seeing off six of the players, Vamplew was left to head into the heads up section of the tournament against Black Belt Poker’s Jamie Burland, the winner of the UKIPT Manchester event during the last season of the series of tournaments.
A couple of hands passed with very little action, it was Vamplew’s Ace/Queen that got the better of Burland’s King/Ten, holding its strength over his opponents hand as the community cards ran dry for both parties, although there was a scare for the Scottish pro when Burland was offered the opportunity of a backdoor flush draw.
Following the river card once again offering nothing to either player, Vamplew won the tournament with an Ace high hand, securing his place in all of the tournaments within the next season of the UKIPT and his second title of the week.
After the crowning of the UKIPT Champion of Champions title, Vamplew told listeners that he was “running good” but following a back to back success in the EPT London Main Event and now this, you can only consider that to be an understatement of success.
