At the 2011 Legends of Poker Main Event, the World Poker Tour (WPT) continued to experiment with new structures, with their latest offering being a multi-entry tournament where players were even allowed to forfeit their stacks at the end of Day 1a if they so chose, giving them the opportunity to start from scratch on Day 1b!

Over the course of the two starting days a total of 757 players registered for the $3,500 buy-in tournament, including 116 players who took advantage of the multi-entry format. The 757 players who registered generated a total prize-pool of over $2.5 million, easily surpassing the $2.1 million that last year’s tournament produced. Although it should be pointed out that last year’s tournament not only lacked the possibility to enter on both starting days, but also featured a heftier $5,000 buy-in.

On Saturday the field will be combined, leaving about 340 players remaining in the tournament –a precise number will be known shortly as tournament officials determine if any players used the option to forfeit their stack at the end of Day 1a.

81 players will make the money in the Legends of Poker Main Event with the winner looking at a $750k payday, while 81st place will pay-out $7,000 –just enough to cover a player who bought in on both days!

The chip-leader heading into Day 2 of the tournament is poker pro JC Tran, who will start Day 2 with 265,000 chips thanks to an impressive Day 1b performance. Tran narrowly edged out Day 1a chip-leader Matt Berkey and his 248,500 chips.
