A total of 1,085 entries were recorded over the three starting flights of the $1,100 Accumulator tournament, the first event at the inaugural World Series of Poker Asia Pacific tournament series. Day 1a saw Dan Kelly top the 329 player field; on Day 1b it was Antoine Saout who claimed the top spot from the 337 player field; and on Day 1c Nick Morales bettered the largest starting flight of 419 players.

The Accumulator tournament is a unique event that allows players to enter all three starting flights and combine their chip-stacks heading into Day 2 of the tournament. 15 players were able to capitalize on the format, including two of the overall chip-leaders, Dan Kelly and Antoine Saout –Kelly ended Day 1a with 66,250 chips and added 15,800 more on Day 1c; Saout was the Day 1b chip-leader with 58,875 chips and added a further 45,500 chips on Day 1c.

Saout used the Accumulator format to his advantage and even without combining his stack he would have landed in the #6 and #11 spot after his Day 1b and Day 1c results. With just 15 players bagging chips on two days (nobody managed to bag chips on all three) it will be interesting to see how the Accumulator format is received, and whether it will start appearing at other events.

Of the 1,085 entries, 145 players punched their ticket to Day 2 of the tournament, but only 90 of these players will make the money. Still in the hunt for the title are the aforementioned Kelly and Saout, as well as Jason Lee, James Obst, Eugene Katcalov, Melanie Weisner, Jake Balsiger, Jackie Glazier, Jeremy Ausmus, Russell Thomas, Jonathan Duhamel, Barry Greenstein, Phil Hellmuth, Mike Watson, and Mike Leah.

Here is a look at the Top 10 chip-counts heading into Day 2 (includes combined stacks for all players):

The tournament boasted a $1,000,000 guarantee, and with 1,085 entrants the event managed to nudge past that number as the final tally landed at $1,085,000. The winner of the tournament will pocket over $211,000, not to mention the first-ever WSOP bracelet awarded at the WSOP APAC. Here is a look at the final table payouts for the event:

Day 2 will begin on Sunday at noon local time at the Crown Casino, and at the same time the WSOP APAC will roll on, as Event #2 a $1,650 PLO tournament gets underway.
