WSOP Notebook: EDC, father and son FT’s and more

Another interesting day at the WSOP has given us a lot to talk about, as the Shulman’s made my inclusion of them in yesterday’s WSOP Notebook makes me look like a poker Nostradamus of sorts, as well as an interesting player making a Day 3, and the poker scene at the Electric Daisy Carnival.

Poker players at the Electric Daisy Carnival

For those of you my age and older, the Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC for short) is this generations Lollapalooza, and it seems like a big hit with a lot of poker players. Fortunately for the poker players who are EDC and WSOP lovers the music festival is in Las Vegas during the WSOP, and a number of poker players have been heading to the show. When I noticed my Twitter and Facebook filled with images of neon colored poker players I remembered the EDC phenomenon from last year.

So far I’ve seen pics of the EDC from Melanie Weisner, Liv Boeree, Vanessa Selbst, Jeff Madsen, Jason Koon, Vanessa Rousso, Dan Fleyshman, and recent WSOP winner Brian Hastings to name just some of the EDC goers I have seen.

If you want to see what the Electric Daisy Carnival is all about, check out #EDC on Twitter.

An update on the Shulmans

Yesterday I asked if you were familiar with the exploits of Jeff and Barry Shulman, and the boys delivered last night. The message from Allyn Jaffrey-Shulman says it all:

“Congrats to Barry & Jeff Shulman for making WSOP history today by being the only father/son team to each make a final table on the same day in 2 different events!! What an EXCITING day for our family!!

“ My Barry came in 8th in Event 19 (1500K No limit hold’em) winning $53,669. Jeff came in 3rd in Event 20 (5K limit hold’em) winning $92,562.

“ Way to go boys!!!!”

Online Cheater makes Day 3 of $1k NLHE event

Over at my blog I’ve been churning out a series on the online poker cheaters over the years, and unfortunately I’m dismayed to report that one of the worst offenders has made a Day 3 at the WSOP. Josh “JJProdigy” Field is clinging to his tournament life in the $1k NLHE event with just 17 players remaining.
