WSOP Notebook: Jonathan Little, DanDruff and winners

Posted by Steve Ruddock on Jun 10, 2012 Posted in Poker News | No Comments »

Sunday is shaping up to be a big day, as both Phil Ivey and Phil Hellmuth are flirting with another final table, and another WSOP bracelet, which you can read about here, but this column is supposed to bring you the side-stories at the WSOP and today’s installment definitely delivers in that respect!

Phil Tom might have a DanDruff problem

One of the most interesting storylines on Sunday has to be the seating assignments in the $5k Limit Holdem tournament, where famed UB/AP detractor Todd “DanDruff” Witteles will be seated at the same table as Absolute Poker Scott Tom’s father, Phil Tom, thanks to both men making it through to Day 2 of the event.

Considering Witteles’ record of speaking his mind–having gone on 60-Minutes to talk about the Super-User scandals and having devoted his online time to outing Scandals and Cheaters in the poker world—the elder Tom may be in for a very uncomfortable experience on Sunday.

Witteles once badgered Phil Hellmuth at a WSOP table over his affiliation with UB Poker, and it’s unlikely the WSOP will step in as they did in that case should Witteles set his sights on Tom –who was rumored to be an Absolute Poker investor himself.

Jonathan Little’s WSOP struggles

There are plenty of really good in the poker world and Jonathan Little is definitely one of the players who ranks extremely high on my list. Unfortunately Little has struggled mightily at the World Series of Poker over the years, and so far, 2012 has been no different as Little continues to get his chips in the middle with the advantage, but continues to be sent packing.

As bad as he has run at the WSOP over the years, poker can turn on a dime (just ask Mike Mizrachi) and if you are looking for someone to root for to get off of the “Best player without a bracelet” list, Jonathan Little is an excellent choice.

For his career, Little has 14 WSOP cashes and only one final table (a 3rd place finish in 2010).
