Zimnan Ziyard wins inaugural EPT Loutraki

When the 335th player was eliminated from the PokerStars EPT Loutraki tournament only one man remained, the UK’s Zimnan Ziyard. Ziyard entered the final day of the tournament with a solid chip-lead over the rest of the field, and the young UK poker pro managed to use his extra firepower to batter his opponents and capture his first EPT title.

Ziyard did encounter a challenge during the heads-up portion of the tournament as Hauke Heseding refused to go quietly into the night, even after Ziyard continually dominated the action (as Teddy KGB would say, “the kids got alligator blood”). Ziyard was able to finally put away his opponent when Heseding three-barrel bluffed a wet board, only to eventually see that Ziyard was going nowhere on any straight holding the nut-flush draw and two-overs on the flop, turning top pair, and rivering top-two-pair!

For the win Ziyard earned the biggest payday of his career, a hefty €347,000, while Heseding would have to settle for the 2nd place prize-money of $221,800. Here is a look at the complete final table payouts from the inaugural EPT Loutraki Main Event –which based on the total experience is likely the first of many stops for the EPT in Greece:

1. Zimnan Ziyard — €347,000

2. Hauke Heseding — €221,800

3. John Taramas — €134,400

4. Florian Schleps — €100,800

5. Pierre Mothes — €67,200

6. Andras Kovacs — €53,700

7. Charalampos Kapernopoulos — €40,300

8. Mario Puccini — €27,000
