Global Poker launched its Global Poker Championships in 2017 with the introduction of the inaugural Eagle Cup which had Sweeps Cash (SC) the company’s virtual currency as part of the guaranteed prize pool. The Eagle Cup had a prize pool of SC$1.25 million and saw more than 25,000 players register and battle it out. The online tournament was a great success for Global Poker and as a result, the poker operator has decided to start 2018 with another special online tournament known as Grizzly Games.

Global Poker has upped the ante and announced that Grizzly Games will have SC$1.5 million as part of its guaranteed prize pool and will run from Jan 14 to Feb 11. The highlight of the Grizzly Games will be its SC$50,000 Main Event which takes place on Feb 11.

What Is Global Poker All About?

Global Poker is a U.S based online poker operator that recently launched operations, making it one of the younger poker sites in the industry. Regardless, the online poker operator has made quite an impact in this short period and has established itself as one of the top 10 poker sites worldwide in terms of the number of players and is one of the most popular online poker sites for U.S based players.

The online poker website has a variety of games available so that players can find something for them regardless of their stake and preference. One of the features that makes Global Poker unique from the other poker sites out there is that Global Poker uses Sweeps Cash, its virtual currency that players can use to play real cash games in shorthanded and full ring games from stakes of ¢2 to ¢4 right up to $10 to $20 in both Omaha and Texas Hold’Em. Global Poker also offers players another virtual currency type called Gold Coins, which players can purchase via PayPal and then use those Gold Coins to enter sit-and-go games, ring games and online tournaments.

Grizzly Games Has 200 Events In Four Weeks

Grizzly Games is an absolute marathon of a series with over 200 events taking place in this four week poker festival. Based on the success of its Eagle Cup, Global Poker expects Grizzly Games to have a bigger turnout and be even more popular with the global poker community. The poker operator has put together an opening $5,000 free roll (a thank you for playing at the Global Poker website) and also has more leaderboard giveaways.

Participants who are able to win the Sweeps Cash or Gold Coin Championship Events will also receive a champion’s pack, which includes a special assortment of prizes and rewards delivered to their door step. The champions pack will include a championship trophy, a champion’s avatar displayed on the site, t-shirts and a number of other goodies.

The Grizzly Games leaderboard winner will even end up representing Global Poker in the future at a live event with $1,500 in accommodation and flights and $3,500 in buy-ins. To find out more information about the Grizzly Games schedule and prizes on offer, please go to the official website.

It has come to our attention that not everyone is as excited about Global Poker as we are. Some people in the poker industry question the legality and longevity of the brand since it is using PayPal for cash outs to US citizens. One such site is Professional Rakeback who thinks that Global Poker might not be legit. Whether their warnings have merit or not we will leave up to you to decide, but we thought it a good idea to offer this alternative perspective to our readers.
