Friday Wrap: WPT, WSOP, Hellmuth’s new site and more
With the World Series of Poker just days away this could very well be the last Friday Wrap for a while (I’ll try to sneak them in where and when I can). Fortunately it’s a good one, considering there were quite a few odds and ends news stories over the past week; most of which involving the WSOP, surprise, surprise.
Negreanu’s weekly rant
Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu’s weekly rant this week focused on Fantasy Poker Drafts (more on this below) with Negreanu being one of the most active participants in these fun (and often for mucho dinero) competitions.

Jens Kyllonen enters $1 million One Drop tournament
Another name has registered for the $1,000,000 Big One for One Drop at the 2012 WSOP, online poker pro, and PLO specialist Jens “Jeans89” Kyllonen. Kyllonen will be at the WSOP to play some PLO events, the Main Event, and most assuredly some of the uber-high-stakes cash—games, and he apparently decided that while he is there he may as well take a flyer on a $1 million buy-in tournament!
The Big One event seems to be getting near the 48-player cap, and will likely offer around a $15 million first-place prize!
Phil Hellmuth 80% to play in One Drop
In an interview with PokerStrategy.com, Phil Hellmuth told the outlet that he is now 80% likely to be playing in the Big One for One Drop tournament at the 2012 WSOP. So what changed Phil’s mind? All it took was about $550,000 in guaranteed staking money!

Phil Hellmuth’s new website
Phil’s One Drop announcement wasn’t the only Poker Brat this week. We also learned that Hellmuth has relaunched his personal website, www.PhilHellmuth.com, offering a variety of new sub-pages, and detailing the direction he intends to take the site –currently the site is using some old, archived, content as place-holders until new content is available.
Fantasy Poker Leagues
Be prepared if you visit an online poker forum or site for the inevitable, Fantasy WSOP Poker league conversations taking place! While it’s a little late to get into the 2012 leagues (some sites still have spots open) In the coming weeks we’ll be posting a Fantasy Poker Do’s and Don’ts article, so keep your eyes peeled for that one and get a jumpstart on the 2013 WSOP!
Australia exploring legalized online poker
In online news, it appears that Australia is exploring the possibility of legalizing online poker according to an article in the Daily Telegraph. With politics in the country very similar to the US it will be a tough fight, but according to the article, it could take place in the next 6-12 months.
