Weekly Brief: Online action heats up and more

It was a busy week at the online poker tables as action heated up in Full Tilt Poker’s high-stakes games. In a bizarre twist it was Tom ‘durrrr’ Dwan who was hammered at the tables, while the usually spewy Cadillac1944 was the big winner.

The online poker rooms themselves were also quite busy this past week. First was the Cereus Poker Network’s addition of security tokens to add a further layer of security between their customers and potential hackers. Then the Merge Gaming Network unveiled their downloadable MAC software.

In lighter news we had an epic week of PokerStars.net Big Game episodes which saw the Loose Cannon felt the Poker Brat, and leave the show as the biggest online qualifier winner in the history of the program.

Then there was the premiere episode of Jay Rosenkrantz and John Wray’s animated poker series called The Micros, where we were introduced to three small-stakes grinders who find one of their own playing in the big Sunday tournament. The episode is about 7 minutes in length and will have any poker enthusiast laughing from start to finish.

We also posted an op-ed detailing the worth of a WSOP bracelet, which you can read here: What Does a WSOP Bracelet Stand For.
